Accounting Work From Home

What is Accounting?

Accounting is the profession of keeping track of financial records. The main focus of accounting is book keeping which involves recording all in coming and out going financial transactions of a company or individual. Book keeping should be carried out in a way that anyone who needs to assess the financial situation or history of a company can do so at a glance.

Another job that can be carried out by an accountant is auditing. Usually financial audits will be carried out by an outside agency or someone who does not have interests in the company. During an audit, the accountant will verify that all financial records are supported by bank statements and that there are no discrepancies to be found in the records.

Qualifications needed to be an accountant

It is not always imperative to have a degree or certified qualification to act as an accountant on behalf of a company. For example, someone who had their own business and kept the books up to date for it should be qualified by experience to book keep on behalf of another small business. To become a chartered accountant however, you will either need to complete a degree in accountancy or take on the job training. Becoming a chartered accountant will take up to four years. Obviously those with relevant qualifications are more likely to be offered a job as an accountant or book keeper.

Finding work from home accountancy jobs

Many smaller businesses do not have the need to employ a full time accountant or book keeper and so employ someone on a freelance basis maybe two or three days a week. In a lot of these cases, it is more than possible to complete the work load at home. When looking for work at home accountancy jobs, approaching local businesses personally either by letter or in person is likely to yield the best result. Most employers would like to meet their accountant in person before handing over information to their financial records.
