Starting To Work From Home

There are all kinds of reasons one might work from home, and it doesn’t really matter what your particular reason is for doing so.

You might think it sounds too good to be true: being your own boss, and earning from the comfort of your own home. Doesn’t that sound convenient?
On the other hand you may find it a lonely prospect. Perhaps you find it difficult to motivate yourself. After all, it’s hard to know where to start. Loads of people think this way.

You don't have to be a hermit

Working – and earning – from home doesn’t mean you have to live with no human contact. In fact, working from home is all about community. If you ask questions you’ll receive answers from helpful people who are like you, but who may simply have a touch more experience. The freelance community is one of the most supportive networks on the web.

To put things in perspective:

You might be by yourself but don’t feel isolated – there are a lot of people in a similar position to yourself. Think what this means. You can be part of an influential network of readers, writers, researchers… you name it.
There is demand for positions you might never have heard of before.
Here are a few examples:

User Testing:

Think of the millions of commercial websites that are designed to be highly usable. Building a website that is easy to navigate is tricky and expensive, and companies spend money to have their websites tested. They need to be tested by all kinds of people, who will be given particular challenges, such as digging out a nugget of information from the heart of the website, or simply sailing between pages.

Writing:

Writing for the web is a good idea if you enjoy writing and don’t mind if it’s about strange subjects you don’t know much about. This requires a small amount of research, but is more about creating content that readers will find helpful. If you use the internet a lot yourself, you are probably in a terrific position to do so.

Researching:

The internet is a sea of information, and researchers are paid to locate particular trinkets. You might think that the birth of Google and other search engines mean there are no paid researchers anymore, but the kind of research you’ll do will probably be investigative, and involve some telephoning.

Data entry:

Some might say data entry is drone work, but others find it therapeutic. There is a repetitive element to most tasks, and if you don’t mind this data entry good be a good option for you.

Wheel and deal:

For the entrepreneur all things are possible, but eBay is a particularly good environment for those with the magpie’s eye for things that sparkle. You can find all kinds of items here, and sell for a profit.

Teach yourself graphic design:

You can educate yourself online, using YouTube videos or by visiting websites designed for the specific purpose, such as w3schools. If you are a good learner you will be able to pick up specialist skills, and with a steep learning curve you’ll soon be in a good position to offer your services to people who don’t have the know-how themselves.

Online surveys:

The quickest way to earn a buck online is through completing online surveys. As the saying goes, time equals money, and if you have time then you’ll find yourself earning a small amount per survey. You will be surprised how quickly it all adds up.
WorkFromHomeJobs is actually a specialist when it comes to surveys; we work with a number of the best companies – there are a lot of cowboys out there.

The last thing to remember, and the first thing to put into practise, is that work is work. You have to invest time and effort before you can expect any sizable reward. Working from home works for people all over the world, and perhaps it'll work for you too!
